Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing—Benjamin Franklin

Christmas letter that wasn't

Between Bryce's finals, moving, and general holiday craziness, we decided it's ok to be lazy bums this year and use the blog as our Christmas card... which turned into a News Years card... which turned into a whenever-you-actually-get-to-it update post. Next year we'll get back on the bandwagon and send out real Christmas cards (fingers crossed anyway).

I can't believe that the year is over. Sometimes I think not much has happened to us last year and then I think back on last Christmas and I change my mind entirely.

Little man is as crazy as ever, but rather than running around whapping people, he runs around scolding them instead. He is a chatterbox and loves to make his opinion known. He loves all things animal and some days I feel like we live in a zoo with all the animals that make their way into random places around the house. We're still in the process of potty training and he is doing surprisingly well despite a couple of setbacks. I'm grateful he has chosen to do it before the baby comes. He is so sweet about the baby and we're excited to see him as a big brother. He announces constantly when it is "time for the baby to sleep in mommy's belly," or when "baby needs a lullaby." He greets her most mornings, gives her a love at night before bed, and makes sure he gets in a kiss at least twenty times a day. We couldn't ask for a sweeter boy.

The biggest change in our lives is obviously the new addition coming along. Her Highness has toned down her antics a bit so I have more good days, but she definitely makes her presence known. We are into the third trimester now and I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. It will definitely be an adventure having two kids, but somehow we'll manage.

We moved yet again and are getting set up in the new place as quickly as we can. We laughed pretty hard when we found out that we had scheduled moving day on the day the world would supposedly end, but we made it through intact. We have the worst luck with moving (we haven't managed it once without a horrible storm of some kind and usually some other fun disasters). This time was no different. As Bryce puts it, "The world ended not with a bang, but with a whimper for us." Or at least the move did. Take a flu bug on top of a stomach bug, add credit card fraud, potty training (and did I mention the stomach bug that made potty training even more fun?), finals, and the usual stresses of packing, and what do you get? A whole lot of craziness. We're all in one piece now though and all is well.

Bryce is finished with finals and onto his very last semester of law school. It's been a long time coming, but at the same time we know all too soon we'll be moving on to real life and missing the fun days we had here. We've loved our time at law school. We've met so many great people and learned so much. We will spend the summer here so that Bryce can studying for the Bar Exam and then start his new job in North Carolina come September.

Life is an adventure as usual and we love it. We're so grateful for all the wonderful blessings we've been given and to have a chance to reflect on all the great things that have happened in our lives.
